Don’t be in a hurry to leave your parents’ houses – VJ Adams

VJ Adams, a popular media personality, has offered advice to teenagers, urging them not to rush into moving out of their parents’ homes. According to him, the current trend of teenagers renting their own apartments is not economically favorable.

The OAP emphasized that teenagers, especially those whose parents reside in well-located areas like Ikeja, Gbagada, Ogbudu, Yaba, or Surulere, should consider staying with their parents until their mid to late twenties. By doing so, they can save the money they would have spent on rent.

VJ Adams explained, “If you are 17, 18, I don’t know why you are in a hurry to leave your parents’ house, especially if your parents live in good proximity areas. Why are you trying to leave your parents’ house? You don’t need freedom.” He further emphasized the financial benefits, suggesting that by saving an equivalent of N3 million each year as rent, they could accumulate N30 million over ten years. With this savings, at the age of 27, they could move out and purchase a house or rent a place of their choice and furnish it comfortably.

VJ Adams also mentioned that he personally moved out of his parents’ house at an early age due to his job requirements.

A source confirmed that Kuti’s departure for Zurich, where he is scheduled to perform on Thursday, has been arranged. This development comes after he was unable to perform at a concert in Majorca Island, Spain, due to his detention by the Nigerian Police Force.

Kuti’s arrest stemmed from allegations of assaulting a police officer, and he was expected to appear in court at the Yaba Magistrate’s Court. However, the trial has been adjourned to July 3. The courtroom witnessed a confrontation between Chief Magistrate Adeola Olatubosun and the police over new charges brought against Kuti. Human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) played a crucial role in blocking these fresh charges.

Falana raised important objections regarding the delayed presentation of the new charges and the police’s failure to comply with a court order to send the case file to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP). He argued that the police had disregarded the law, which requires new charges to be presented at least 48 hours in advance, allowing the defendant sufficient time to prepare a defense. Furthermore, Falana criticized the police’s refusal to send the case file to the DPP, as ordered by the Chief Magistrate on May 16, 2023.

Falana cautioned that unless the police appealed the judge’s order, they would not be able to prosecute Kuti.
