I had a creative block when making my new album – Joeboy

Music sensation Joeboy recently sat down for an interview with Dada Boy Ehiz on Apple Music Africa Now Radio, where he revealed the inspirations behind his latest album.

According to Joeboy, the album offers the perfect blend of enchanting love songs and thought-provoking tracks that delve into the complexities of relationships.

“It’s like the ultimate fusion of two worlds. We explore the concept of love, not just the beautiful and idyllic side, but also the darker, more tumultuous aspects. Love isn’t always a fairy tale; it’s a battle, and I wanted to capture that essence. Contrary to the picture-perfect image portrayed on social media, love has its challenges, and my album reflects those realities. It’s not just about the sunny side of love.”

Joeboy admitted that during the album’s creation, he faced a creative block as he found himself overthinking the direction to take.

“As a mainstream artist, there’s an immense pressure to create the next chart-topping hit, and it can be overwhelming. I remember struggling with a creative block during the album-making process. I was consumed by various factors, and it hindered my creative flow. But I’ve learned that when you start overanalyzing and incorporating too many external factors into your music, it stifles your creativity.”

Fortunately, Joeboy found a way to break free from his creative block by following the advice of his long-time collaborator, E Kelly, who encouraged him to create music from the heart.

“I had a conversation with E Kelly, one of my producers who has been by my side since the beginning. He told me to let go of all barriers and just make music that flows naturally. He reminded me to enjoy the process and create from a place of genuine passion. Before fame and money, music was something I simply loved and enjoyed. So, I went back to that mindset.”

While Joeboy’s debut album featured no guest artists, he has since collaborated with various musicians. Joeboy explained that he chose to feature artists on his latest album, ‘Body & Soul,’ because he felt it was time to work with the artists he admires and respects.

“At the time of my first album, I wanted people to connect directly with me and understand my essence. It was about establishing my foundation and showcasing my individuality. However, with this new album, I felt the timing was right to collaborate with artists I truly admire and respect. It was a natural progression, and the resulting songs are truly beautiful.”

Joeboy’s latest album is an exploration of love’s multifaceted nature, offering listeners an immersive experience that goes beyond the surface and delves into the complexities of human relationships.

Portable, known for his electrifying performances, didn’t mince words in his response. He unleashed a fierce tirade against Spyro, questioning his credibility and highlighting his own accomplishments in the music industry.

Wait, who’s whining here? Apara or Spyro, what’s your name again? You’re still struggling, yet you’re acting all posh. How many shows have you attended? Don’t let them mislead you, don’t turn against your helpers,” retorted Portable in his signature no-nonsense pidgin English.

He continued, cautioning Spyro against appearing arrogant and losing focus during interviews. Portable dismissed Spyro’s attempts to position himself as a superior artist, reminding him of his non-A-list status.

“Listen, that’s why I avoid too many interviews. I know they’ll ask too many questions and you might end up blabbering. When the industry calls, don’t pretend to be what you’re not. You’re busy packaging yourself. Look at you! What’s your name again, guinea fowl? Let me give you a catchy chorus so you can gain more recognition. Are you whining? Go and ask your boss,” Portable asserted.

In this fiery exchange, Portable defended his talent and reputation, leaving no room for doubt about his ability to captivate audiences and command attention in the music industry.

EPL: He’s just too clumsy – Frank Leboeuf slams £50m Chelsea star

Frank Leboeuf, the revered Chelsea legend, unleashes a scathing attack on Raheem Sterling, the £50 million star of the Blues, accusing him of being nothing more than a clumsy presence on the field.

Expressing his discontent with Sterling’s contributions this season, Leboeuf holds no punches when it comes to assessing the England international’s performance.

Since his high-profile move from Manchester City last summer, Sterling’s debut season at Chelsea has left much to be desired. With a meager six Premier League goals to his name, the 28-year-old has struggled to make the impact expected of him.

Leboeuf, known for his straight talk, writes in a fiery column on Si & Dan Talk Chelsea, “I always strive to be fair and respectful to players, both as individuals and as athletes. However, when it comes to Raheem Sterling’s tenure at Chelsea, I have to admit that he falls short in delivering that extra spark.”

Questioning the reasoning behind Sterling’s hefty price tag, Leboeuf refers to the player’s transition from Liverpool to Manchester City and now to Chelsea. He suggests that if esteemed manager Pep Guardiola decided to part ways with Sterling, it must have been for valid reasons. The former Chelsea defender further contends that the initial £50 million investment was excessive for what Sterling brings to the team.

“On the pitch, Sterling fails to exude leadership and is plagued by a sense of clumsiness,” Leboeuf asserts. Despite acknowledging the rare joy of witnessing Sterling net two goals against Forest, the legendary footballer expresses his overall dissatisfaction with Sterling’s performances. Leboeuf highlights the recurring issues of ball losses, missed opportunities, and a general lack of finesse.

As the debate rages on, the clash of opinions between Leboeuf and Sterling’s supporters intensifies, with the Chelsea legend unapologetically labeling the talented player as nothing more than a liability on the field.

The Tafawa Balewa Square Lagos High Court has granted permission to the Isale Eko Descendants Union to proceed with legal action against the producers of the movie ‘Gangs of Lagos‘. The union seeks to impose a hefty N10 billion fine on the filmmakers for their alleged wrongful portrayal of Isale Eko as a haven for criminals and the Eyo Masquerade as a gang of murderers.

Additionally, the court has permitted the descendants of Isale Eko to seek a judicial review and request an order of mandamus compelling the Attorney General of Lagos State and the Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board to take action against the film producers under the Cinematograph Law of Lagos State.

The presiding judge, Justice Idowu Alakija, granted this permission following arguments presented by the counsel representing the Isale Eko Descendants Union and two other plaintiffs. The applicants include the Isale Eko Descendants’ Union, Chief Ayodele Bajulaiye (acting on behalf of the Bajulaiye Chieftaincy Family and Eyo Iga Bajulaiye), and Chief Abdul-Waheed Ayeni (acting on behalf of the Sasore Chieftaincy Family and Eyo Iga Sasore).

Furthermore, the court permits the applicants to seek a judicial review and request an order of mandamus compelling the Attorney General and the Lagos State Video and Film Censors Board to fulfill their statutory duties under the Cinematograph Law of Lagos State. This includes revoking the license and approval granted to Greoh Studios and ‘the make it happen production,’ the producers of ‘Gangs of Lagos,’ for their alleged depiction of Isale Eko as a hub for criminals and the Eyo Masquerade as a gang of murderers and assassins.

Why I don’t promote nudity with my skits – Sabinus

Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, the renowned Nigerian comedian and content creator popularly known as Sabinus, recently shared his perspective on why he abstains from promoting nudity in his skits. During the SMFest held in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, Sabinus emphasized his commitment to creating family-friendly content.

Sabinus revealed that he has encountered situations where individuals expressed their eagerness to join his comedy group and were willing to do anything. However, he firmly stands against such approaches, opting instead to assign specific roles to maintain the integrity of his content. He recounted an incident where a girl objected to tying a wrapper, expressing her expectation for a different portrayal. Undeterred, Sabinus explained to her that his storytelling requires authenticity, even if it means not showcasing explicit body parts.

For Sabinus, creating content that resonates with a wide audience, particularly families, takes precedence over utilizing nudity for cheap laughs or shock value. While he acknowledges the occasional need for attractive individuals in his skits, he maintains that their physical appearance should not rely on revealing outfits or explicit displays.

By adhering to his principle of crafting family-oriented content, Sabinus aims to cater to diverse viewers and maintain a positive influence. His stance showcases his commitment to responsible comedy and serves as a reminder that entertainment can be both humorous and inclusive without resorting to gratuitous nudity.
