The song debuted in December 2015 and was made available for digital download as a single on the iTunes Store. On February 26, 2016, it was once again made available.
Desiigner composed the song, and Menace produced the song.
Kanye West, a GOOD Music labelmate and founder, substantially sampled “Panda” for “Pt. 2,” a song on West’s seventh studio album The Life of Pablo, and it served as the basis for several remixes.
At the 59th Annual Grammy Awards, the song received a nomination for Best Rap Performance. On May 10, 2016, a music video was made available. In the Best Hip Hop Video category of the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, it was nominated.
“I’m simply putting it in a broader way of how I say and the way I live,” he says of the white BMW X6 that he compares to the appearance of a panda in the hip-hop song “Panda.”
The song’s beat was created by rising Rochdale producer Menace, and Desiigner found it on YouTube.
Menace claimed that the UK grime culture had an influence on the song.
