Funmi Aragbaye, a seasoned gospel musician, has asserted that the increasing prevalence of divorce among young couples is attributed to their inability to endure challenges within marriages. During an interview, she emphasized that marital happiness is not solely linked to the wealth of one’s spouse.
Addressing the issue, Funmi Aragbaye stated:
“The primary cause of divorce among young couples is their limited capacity to navigate through hardships with their partners. This predisposition often leads them to prioritize marrying affluent individuals. Yet, marital contentment doesn’t hinge on the financial status of one’s spouse. Before entering into marriage, young people should seek divine guidance from God and thoroughly acquaint themselves with their potential partner’s family background. It is important to consider potential ancestral curses and family traits. Moreover, they should cultivate endurance, patience, resilience, and understanding.”
In addition, Funmi Aragbaye offered advice to emerging gospel musicians, advising them against airing personal grievances or conflicts on social media platforms.
“It is detrimental to the reputation of the Gospel Musicians Association of Nigeria (GOMAN) when members publicize internal issues on social media for resolution. I encourage young gospel musicians to resolve their differences amicably without resorting to social media. Some gospel artists struggle with the challenges of fame, and a few may lack the necessary stage decorum. Addressing these areas is essential for the overall well-being of the association. The association’s elders are actively working towards maintaining harmony and professionalism among the members,” she added.
