American singer-songwriter Justin Timberlake wrote the song “Not a Bad Thing” for his fourth studio album, The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2. (2013). James Fauntleroy and Joey Giltner contributed additional writing, and Timberlake, Timothy “Timbaland” Mosley, and Jerome “J-Roc” Harmon wrote and produced the song.
On February 24, 2014, it was made available as the third single from the album. The song is a mid-tempo pop ballad with lyrics that focus on the semantics of love and uses an acoustic guitar throughout.
Many critics of modern music gave “Not a Bad Thing” favorable reviews. The Ellen DeGeneres Show featured the song’s music video debut on March 20, 2014.
