The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has issued a directive for the demolition of unlawfully constructed buildings in various locations such as schools, mosques, playgrounds, graveyards, markets, and hospitals within the state. Governor Yusuf emphasized that this action is necessary to uphold urban planning regulations, enhance the aesthetics of the area, and prioritize the safety of the people.
Through a Twitter post on Saturday, the Governor announced that the demolition of an illegal structure at the Race Course playground marked the beginning of efforts to reclaim encroached public land that had been occupied by unauthorized constructions by private individuals or groups.
Governor Yusuf called upon the residents of Kano to be patient, assuring them that his administration is fully dedicated to creating a prosperous Kano. He emphasized that this initial step is part of their commitment to restoring order and adherence to the Kano State Urban Development Masterplan. The Governor emphasized the need to remove all unlawfully erected structures in schools, mosques, playgrounds, graveyards, markets, and hospitals to ensure strict compliance with urban planning regulations, enhance the area’s appearance, and ensure public safety.
