Jasmine Okafor, Mr. Ibu’s adopted daughter, responded to the widely circulated reports of her purported police detention.
The police’s formal statement about the arrests of Jasmine and her stepbrother, Daniel Oyeabuchi Okafor, was just published.
They were taken into custody for embezzling a staggering N55 million from the money raised to pay for Mr. Ibu’s surgery.
From the statement gathered, they had planned to travel out of Nigeria with the money and had gotten their passports ready to exit the country.
Jasmine has reacted heartily to the news of the arrest, claiming it was even more than the initial amount stated.
